Trend Report from the Art Opening
If there is anything to know about me, it is that I am an avid people-watcher. I am always observing people and checking out their outfits, perhaps too much so (I've been caught staring once or twice). So when Sophie, our Visual Arts LCC coordinator, told us that the opening of the 2018 Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition we were attending was one of those events where you go to see the art, see the people, and to be seen, I was ready to put my people-watching goggles on and start taking notes. And Sophie was right: the people in attendance were nearly more intersting that the art! Everyone was dressed in creative and cool ways. Since the art scene is especially known for being ahead of the curve in fashion trends, I'm expecting some of what I saw at the opening to start trending soon! Here's a short overview of the trends I picked up on:
1) Berets for women
So many women at the event were sporting a beret, I wondered if I had time traveled to France in the 60s.
2) Small knit caps for men
While this is not necessarily a new trend, but very much an alive trend. Bonus points if the hat does not cover the ears.
3) Dresses over pants
This is one of those trends that is always predicted by fashion magazines but never seems to translate to the street. This time might be different! I saw multiple combinations of dresses over pants, which is a great way of keeping those dresses in circulation in the danish cold.
4) Silk scarfs
Worn around you neck, around your waist, around your torso, around a bag, around your head, and my favorite, around a low ponytail as a hair-tie.
5) Wire rim glasses
Instead of the classing gold and circular, here several people were sporting rose gold hexagonal frames.
6) Multiple gold hoops
Nearly everyone seems to be wearing lots of gold hoops of different sizes and different thicknesses, pilled onto the same ear. It makes me want to get an new piercing!
7) Sherling coats
Big fuzzy coats that look like teddy bears turned into human being, just asking to be hugged! That's a trend I can get behind.
